Hong SHEN is a Higher Education Chair Professor, the Director of the Center for Higher Education Research. She has been rewarded the Special Government Allowances of the State Council of China in 2004. She is an elected Vice President of National Association of Economics of Education. Hong Shen received her Ph.D. in Management Engineering (1997), Master in Higher Education Management (1991), and Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering (1982) all from Huazhong University of Science & Technology (HUST). She is a member of several editorial boards of international and domestic journals including Studies in Higher Education (SSCI Q1). She is the China-PI of international large projects of CAP and APIKS. She was respectively lecturer, associate professor (1995), professor (1999), the 2nd ranked professor (2009), Huazhong Scholar (2016) in HUST, and had been vice dean of School of Education of HUST since 1999-2013. She was a Fulbright Scholar in PSU (2002/03) and a visiting scholar in SUNY-Buffalo (1996/97, then many times), and China Leading Consultant on Asian Student Loans Study for UNESCO-BKK (2001-03). She has been rewarded 7 scientific research awards and 6 doctoral dissertations supervision awards from the ministerial/ provincial level. She has published 300 articles (100 of which are as the first author) and 11 books both in Chinese and English, and has been editing 7 book-series. She is teaching 4 classes for doctor and master students. Hong Shen has been granted over 40 research projects from UNESCO and other international institutions, and from NSF, MOE, NDB(Bank) and various national institutions of China, with 10 millions of RMB of research fund in total. She supervised and is supervising 95 doctor and 66 master students since 1997. Her research concentrations are mainly in Research and World-Class Universities, Faculty Development & Academic Profession, Undergraduates’ Higher Education Added-Value, Higher Education Economics and Finance. Hong Shen has been invited to about 30 countries as a speaker or conference presenter. She has been a very active international scholar in Higher Education field in two decades.
